Geraldine C. (Gerry) Sefcheck, 79, of Oriskany Falls, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with her loving family by her side, after a long illness. She was born March 25, 1928, in Waterville, the daughter of the late Frank and Johanna Crowe Creedon and was a graduate of Waterville Central School. On April 29, 1950, at St. Joseph's Church, Oriskany Falls, she married Joseph F. Sefcheck. Prior to raising her family, Mrs. Sefcheck was a secretary for several local attorneys and for the Waterville Textile Mill. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church. Gerry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by her husband of over 57 years, Joe; four children, Louise and Joel Lockwood of Oneida, Joseph Sefcheck, Jr. and his fiancee, Deborah of Clinton, Johanna and Brian Whalley of Canastota and Colleen Fallon of Whitesboro and Kevin Fallon of Utica; a sister, Margaret (Peg) and Charles Daley of Waterville; two brothers, Edward Creedon of Vernon and Donald and Barbara Creedon of New Hartford; five grandchildren, John Taylor, Jeff Taylor, Jeremy Sefcheck, Emily Whalley and Jennelle Fallon; her in-laws, Ida Creedon of Clinton, Jack Carroll of Rome, Frank Powaski of Spotswood, NJ and Sophie Pasiak of Oriskany Falls; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Louise Sefcheck; a brother, John Creedon; and a sister, Rose Marie Carroll. The funeral will be Thursday morning at 9:15 from the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville and 10 o'clock from St. Joseph's Church, Oriskany Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Oriskany Falls. Calling hours are Wednesday from 2-8 pm. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of the Harding Nursing Home, Dr. Francis Chabot and his nurses, Dr. Ashok Patel and the doctors and nurses of the Central New York Cardiology Department at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, for all their wonderful care and compassion.
Gerry will surely be missed. It was a pleasure to have known her and a joy to have had the chance to take part in her care at Hardings. We had a lot of great conversations and a lot of laughs. Both you and Gerry hold a place in my heart and you will not be forgotten. God Bless You!!!
