Give us a call, we are available to take your call 24/7. You will immediately be put in touch with one of our compassionate and knowledgeable funeral directors. They will begin by collecting some basic information. When possible our directors will drive to wherever your loved one is and bring them into our care. They will be properly identified and placed in our climate controlled care center. On a day and time of your choosing the director who took your call, will meet with you to discuss the type of memorialization that is right for your loved one and family. They will also walk you through all the necessary paperwork. Our director can come to your home or you're alway welcome to come to ours in New Hartford.
When someone passes away at home, we typically use a SUV with darkened windows; this allows us to transport your loved one discreetly and privately.

Embalming returns a natural and pleasant appearance to the body. It inhibits the natural breakdown of the body to provide time for services. It also disinfects the body and in the interest of public health, is necessary for a public viewing. Our main goal is making your loved one look like themselves again. Your loved one is bathed and their hair brushed. We will then introduce a fluid to the circulatory system that returns the pigment to the skin and preserves the tissue. They will be bathed again, dressed in their clothes and placed in their casket. Our hairdresser will style their hair and apply makeup when appropriate.
This really depends on the family and the person who has died. Think about the person who died and what they would have wanted you to wear. When in doubt a dress shirt/blouse, dress pants/dress, jacket and tie are the safest option.
If you would like to see your loved one before they’re cremated without having a formal viewing we can arrange a private time of goodbye for a small group of immediate family. You’ll be able to spend some time with your loved one and say goodbye. This can be a very healing moment and we encourage all of our families to do this.
Not only can you have a funeral before a cremation, we encourage it. Calling hours and a funeral will allow your family and friends to have plenty of goodbye time with you. Whether your casket is open or closed. We can provide a rental casket for your funeral, should you desire to avoid the cost of purchasing one.
Cremation uses heat, much like an oven does, to reduce the body to the ashes most people are familiar with. The oven reaches temperatures between 1400 and 1800 degrees fahrenheit to accomplish this.
No. New York State prohibits funeral and cremation providers from owning and or operating a cremation unit (the equipment used to cremate your loved one). It also prohibits a Crematory (a company that operates cremation units) from working directly with families. Because of this families must contact a cremation provider like Mark C. Bentz to handle and arrange for the cremation of their loved ones.
