Edward J. Lasher, 82, of New Hartford and West Palm Beach, FL, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 in Florida. He was born May 11, 1936, in Utica, the son of the late Harry and Mazie Epstein Lasher and was a graduate of UFA. He was a US Air Force veteran serving from 1954-1958. Ed first worked as a pilot and flight instructor in Rochester, then went on to receive his Bachelor's degree in accounting from Utica College. After college he worked for many years as a Tax Auditor for the New York State Department of Taxation & Finance in Utica and Albany. Ed was an avid flyer and was a member of the Quiet Birdmen Flying Club. He is survived by his wife, Linda Klein Lasher, whom he married on August 6, 1961; his daughter and son-in-law, Margo and Howard Lynne of Jamesville; two grandchildren, Matthew Lynne and Stephanie Lynne; and two nephews, David Reed and Dr. Gary Reed, both of Phoenix, AZ and their families. He was predeceased by his sister, Mildred Lasher Reed. Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 pm at House of Jacob Cemetery, Wood Road, Whitesboro, with Rabbi Howard Matasar officiating. Shiva will be observed Thursday from 7-9 pm, Friday from 2-4 pm and Sunday from 2-4 pm at the Lasher home, 15 Laurelwood Road, New Hartford. My sincere condolences to Ed’s family. I met Ed in 1977 when I worked at the tax office. He was a very nice man.
