Date of Passing: February 26th, 2008leave a condolence
Blythe Clark Friedel, 83, of Minneola, FL, passed away on February 26, 2008, in Ocoee, FL, after a brief illness, with her family at her side. She was born in North Brookfield, NY on June 24, 1924, the daughter of the late George and Louisa Flunder Clark. She attended elementary school in North Brookfield and graduated from Waterville Central School, Class of 1942. She spent much of her working years as a secretary, starting out at the Huntington Agency in Waterville, where she was nicknamed "the Little Gadget". Blythe was tiny in stature, but large in competence, efficiency and spirit! She never earned a driver's license, so she would walk blocks, to and from work daily, in the variety of weather Central New York dished out. Shopping, for the most part, was also done without the benefit of a car. Long before it became common, she was placed in the position of "single" parent, able to balance a full-time job, child rearing and a one income family income. Somehow, she made the impossible look easy. She was kind, extremely generous and fun-loving. She was a great cook, at her best when entertaining a house full of relatives, or when being entertained by them. She loved her siblings, nieces and nephews as well as her great nieces and nephews, each of them "special" for one reason or another. Upon her move to Florida in 1968, she was involved in real estate sales and management with her husband, John, until their retirement in the 1980's. Blythe is survived by her children, David White of Casselberry, FL, a daughter, Dorothy Harrington of Deansboro; three grandchildren, Kim Harrington of Deansboro and Michelle and Brian White of Clermont, FL; two sisters, Aversa Mason of Waterville and Keitha Kelly of North Brookfield; several nieces and nephews; a son-in-law, Richard Harrington of Deansboro; and a former daughter-in-law, Sherri of Clermont, FL. She was predeceased by her former husband, Earl B. White in 1959 and her second husband, John S. Friedel, Sr. in March of 1987; as well as her oldest grandson, Tech. Sgt. David E. Wyman of Minot, ND, in March of 2003; sisters, Ariel, Loniel, and Bethany; brothers in-law, Glen Kelly, Morris (Mott) Mason, Dick Roe and Worth Warner; and a brother, Richard Clark. A memorial service will take place Tuesday evening, May 13, 2008, at 6:30 at the Brookfield Baptist Church, with Pastor Mark Thall officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours at the church will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, Waterville.
