Dolores J. Dellecese, 85, of Utica, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Faxton-St. Luke''s Healthcare Center, with her family by her side. She was born on September 20, 1926, in Utica, the daughter of the late Philip and Mary Basile Poccia and was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School, class of 1945. On June 10, 1950, at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Utica, she married Robert B. Dellecese. For many years, Mrs. Dellecese was the Executive Secretary with Community Chest and later worked with her husband at his real estate and appraisal business. She was a member and past president of the Opt-Mrs. Club of Utica, was a member of the Higby Hills Golf Club and was a past president of the 9th Hole and 18th Hole Ladies Golf League. Dolores was an avid golfer, enjoyed Mah-Jongg and playing cards with her Tuesday afternoon ladies card club and never missed a Yankees game. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bob; her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and David Jones of Old Forge; their children, Jodilyn Jones (Dan Aubert), Bryan Jones (Allison Fletcher-Barone) and Michael Jones; great grandchildren, Kayla, Jack, Jason and Arriana; a sister, Clara LaScala; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Anthony and June Poccia and Nancy Poccia; and a son, David Dellecese and his family; all of Utica. She was predeceased by a son, Bobby; a brother, Richard Poccia; and a brother-in-law, Salvatore LaScala. The funeral will be Friday at 10 am at the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Road, Utica/New Hartford with Father James Cesta officiating. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 pm.
This happened to me this year, only I wasn't given 15 miteuns to look it over, and it was a major musical work I had never seen before that I was supposed to teach to someone pretending to be a first year undergrad. I turned this job down. I felt that giving me such an unreasonable test in the interview which I think I actually did fairly well with did not bode well for the tenure process.
I am sorry to read of your loss. Many have lost loved ones and want to see them again. The Bible actually says what will be death's unavoidable eventuality at Revelation 21:4, which says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Death will be gone forever. May this be of encouragement to the family of Delores Dellecese.
Dolores and Bob were second parents to me growing up and my fondest childhood memories were spent in their home. Dolores taught me, by her example, how to be a loving mother and wife. She made life better for everyone who was blessed to know her.
I will never forget her and my heart, prayers, and love go out to Bob, Diane, David, and the entire family.
