William C. (Bill) Tanner, Jr., 84, of the Firemen's Home, Hudson, formerly of Waterville, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010. He was born February 17, 1926, in Ilion, the son of the late William and Dorothy Lipp Tanner, Sr. and was educated in Madison schools. Bill was a US Marine Corps veteran of WW II and was also a US Army veteran of the Korean War. At one time, Mr. Tanner was employed as the manager of the Oliver Apartments in Oriskany Falls and later at the Schoolhouse Apartments in Waterville. He retired from the Oneida-Madison Co-op in Sherrill. Bill was a member of the Waterville Fire Department, the Clifford J. Fulmer American Legion Post #92 and the Kelley-Phillips American Legion Post #569. He is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lavina and Fred Reilly of Oriskany Falls and Gertrude and James Kelley of Madison; one brother, Robert Tanner of TX; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Tanner of CA, Ann Guimar of MA and Betty Tanner of Waterville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Frank, Almon, Eddie and Charles; and three sisters, Mildred, Dorothy and Edna. Graveside services will be Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Waterville Cemetery, with Pastor Raymond Lighthall officiating. Calling hours are Sunday afternoon from 1-3 at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville.

So sorry to hear of your loss.I remember the family thru Edna, Gert & Eddie Tanner. That was so many years ago in Waterville. I live in Arizona . Sincere sympathy. Marlene
