Julia E. Tilbe, 79, of Norwich and formerly of North Brookfield, passed away peacefully, July 6, 2009, at Wilson Memorial Medical Center, Johnson City, NY, with her family by her side. She was born on August 7, 1929, in Syracuse, the daughter of the late George and Helen Groening MacDurmon. Julia married Walter Tilbe. Mr. Tilbe passed away November 12, 1991. On June 11, 1999, Julia married Earlo Tilbe. Mr. Tilbe passed away in 2002. She was member of the First Baptist Church, Brookfield and Calvary Baptist Church, Norwich. Julia was a co-founder of the Meals on Wheels program for the Brookfield area and she taught cooking and caretaking at the 4 H groups. She also took great joy in crocheting, knitting and doing many crafts and also volunteering her time where ever she was needed. Julia is survived by her children and their spouses, Cynthia Lorraine of NC, Mira and Michael Nelson of Smyrna, Deborah and Dean Abrams of Brookfield, Walter and Tammy Tilbe of Sherburne, Carol Branagan of Norwich and Daniel and Jeanette Tilbe of North Brookfield and Fort Worth, TX; her siblings and their spouses, William MacDurmon of Delaware, Wayne and Helene MacDurmon of New Jersey, Beverly Bigalow of Vermont, Lois and Francis Lamoree of Richfield Springs, NY, Juanita and Richard Tanner of NC and Phyllis and Harry McFadden of PA; her nineteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Julia was predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-law, Ronald and Elise MacDurmon, Norman MacDurmon, Opal MacDurmon and Clarence Bigalow. Her funeral will be 2 PM, Friday from Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, with Pastor Brian Conover, officiating. Interment will be made in North Brookfield Cemetery, North Brookfield, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Calling hours will be 12-2 PM at the funeral home.
I knew your mother for years, she was a very good friend to my mom. She was kind and caring and full of life. My deepest sympathy to you whole family. God rest her.
