Earl W. Shauger, 84, formerly of Oriskany Falls and Forestport, passed away Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Harding Nursing Home. He was born December 12, 1924, in Remsen, the son of the late Earl Grant Shauger and Claudia Ash and was a graduate of Oriskany Falls Union Free School. On June 30, 1944, in Oriskany Falls, he married Emma Cathryn Moon. She passed away June 1, 2005. For many years, Mr. Shauger was a salesman at Eastern Rock Products in Oriskany Falls, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Oriskany Falls United Methodist Church, the Loyal Order of the Moose Oneida Lodge #211, the Boonville Lodge #2158 B.P.O.E. and the Bear Creek Lodge. Earl was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed snowmobiling and traveling. He is survived by three children, Prudence and Harry Luke of Macedon, Earl Fred Shauger of Madison and Wayne and Barbara Shauger of Waterville; a sister, Diane McGuire of TX; seven grandchildren, Patrick, Jeffrey and Jeremy Luke, Rob, Mike and Billy Shauger and Jennifer Zirkle; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Donna, June and Marge; and a great granddaughter, Sarah. Committal services will be at the convenience of the family at Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland, with Pastor Raymond Lighthall officiating. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, Waterville.


According to genealogy records kept by my mother, Earl was my second cousin. I'm sorry to hear of his death. I have never met him, but knew about him through my grandmother, Ethel Alderman. My father, Roger Alderman, passed away two years ago. I understand the loss you are feeling. I am so sorry for your loss.

Earl was a good and faithful friend.We had not been in touch in recent years but Pat & I talked often of the years spent at Eastern Rock and the many memories that included Earl.God bless you Earl. You will be missed. Jim Gerow
