leave a condolence

Frederick E. Furner, Sr, 94, of Kissimmee, FL passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Poinciana Medical Center after suffering a heart attack the night before.

Fred was born December 8, 1927 in North Brookfield, the son of the late Frank Furner, Jr. and Margaret Reidman. Frank, Jr. died soon after Fred was born in 1928. The family moved to Waterville in 1928 where Margaret was close to family to help with the kids, where Fred attended local schools. They later returned to the farm when his elder brothers were old enough to run it. He joined the military in 1946 as Rifleman and was stationed in Germany before being honorably discharged in 1947. He later helped farm with his brothers. Fred also worked construction for many years with the Upstate NY Carpenters Union before retiring in the early 90's after having spent many years helping support his wife Patricia battle cancer. During that time he continued to work part-time at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home in Waterville, NY. Fred moved to Florida in 2011 to be close to his son Fred, Jr.

He kept a positive outlook on life and stayed healthy and active for his age. He enjoyed gardening, watching baseball, going out to eat and always stayed up-to-date on news and current affairs. Fred was very independent, never complained, and before passing he smiled and stated, "I lived a great life".

He was married to Patricia M. (Hutchings) Furner for 37 years until her passing in March of 2002, after a long battle with breast cancer. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles, Edwin, Walter and Jerry Furner and also his sisters, Josephine (Everett) Bugbee and Betty (Sam) Jones. He is survived by his son, Frederick, Jr of Kissimmee, FL.
