On the morning of January 26, 2022, Bill passed peacefully and suddenly while vacationing in Florida with loved ones, Joanne, Butch and Marti.

He was born June 1, 1951, in Utica to our wonderful parents, William and Patricia Parry Wrape (deceased), attending local schools, growing up in the Catholic faith and graduating from Buffalo State.

Bill was the middle child of four sisters who treasured his continual and ever present love and support. He had a welcoming smile, an attentive ear and heart, ready to help, to be there anytime, anyplace. He went out of his way to keep in touch with each of us, along with his brothers-in-law and his daughter and family, Jennifer and Christopher Nagle and children Levi and Athena.

On August 27, 1993 he married the love of his life, Marti Mino. After some time apart, and while continuing to celebrate their anniversary date every year, Bill and Marti reunited in their long-lasting relationship.

Throughout his career, Bill was an outstanding 3 sport athlete at UFA and excelled in baseball at Buffalo State. He taught math and coached high school sports, eventually retiring from New York State Correctional Services as an Education Supervisor.

He was guided by his faith in God, loved the Yankees and planned his schedule around the Syracuse Orange. He loved music of all types, and enjoyed watching the sun rise and sun sets at Sylvan Beach, Myrtle Beach and Florida.

His unique personality drew many lifelong friends to his side. His hand was continually outstretched, " Hi, I'm Bill Wrape, where are you from?" His generosity and fun way, especially with all the children and grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, was a continual blessing. He never missed a phone call, gathering, birthday, or anniversary and all looked forward to being with him. He was a steadying hand upon our shoulder.

Bill loved golf, and everyone he ever played with or against, up and down the East Coast was special to him, especially The Goodfellows league. He championed many tournaments and recently was most proud of his Fourth Hole In One! He leaves behind many, many special friends too numerous to list. You know who you are!

Bill leaves to mourn, his four sisters, Joanne (Anthony) Butch Sisti, Barbara Custodero, Patricia Cloutier, and Sundy (Jon) Horn; and Marti Mino Wrate; special cousins, Eileen and Philip LoGalbo; and beloved nieces and nephews, Anthony Sisti, Jessica Mortensen, Jennifer Forrester, Matthew Cloutier, Patrick Horn, Sara Brown and Mick Custodero.

Forever in his heart, Bill was predeceased by his parents; in-laws, Larry Custodero, Natalie and Leonard Mino, and Shawn Carroll.

Services will be Saturday, February 19 at 3 pm at the Mark C. Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford, with Rev. Joseph Salerno officiating. Calling hours will be Saturday from 1 3 pm, prior to the service.

Dear Marti, Sundy, Joanne, Patty, Barbara & your families, Your loss is devastating, but know that Heaven's gate opened when Billy left here. He'll be there when you're watching a sporting event, when you have your family get togethers, when you smell a smoking cigar, when you see the sun shine. Billy will never leave you, just as he never left you during his earthly life. God has given him Everlasting Life.

Dear Family ,

As a long time friend of Billy , I was shocked to hear of his passing. As stated in the obituary, Billy was truly an outstanding person to many, many people. I played ball with him and enjoy every second. Billy always bragged we were the best double play combination in the city softball leagues. We always met with a hug and a kiss on the cheek! I'll miss our greetings and our friendship. I know the family will always have great memories as all the people he knew. Please accept our sincere and deepest condolences and prayers .

I met Billy in 1977 when we played on the same team in the "Suicide League" at the Knights of Columbus. Billy was the best teammate you could ever ask for! We also took graduate classes together and he made those boring classes bearable with his quick wit and smile. Whenever we would run into each other over the past years we always smiled and laughed about those times. That's the best you can hope for in a friend-he made you feel better when you saw him! We're all better to have known him. RIP Billy!

I first met Billy playing little league baseball in Cornhill and we immediately became friends. You see we had one thing in common and that was we were small stature and huge in heart. I was sad to hear that Billy passed on and I'm sure he has already played 18 holes and enjoyed a cool drink and a quality cigar after the round. RIP friend I'll miss you. Condolences to his family and keep in mind that the heartache will eventually turn into fond memories.

My condolences to Billy's family and friends. I met Billy on the softball field, and I later played golf with him in the Uncle's league. You wouldn't know if he played good or bad because he was always full of cheer on the 19th hole. He would ask everyone how they hittem, but he stopped them short when they started to give the blow by blow account. He would say, just give me the score, not the whole round.
Billy will be missed by all who knew him. Great sense of humor, music lover, and genuinely was happy to see and be with friends and family. I will miss seeing him putting on the practice green at Valley View when I walked off 9 or the 18th hole. He still asked me how I hittem. Never as good as you Billy.

Our deepest sympathies to Marti, Joanne, Barb, Patty, Sundy and the rest of the family. We have so many great memories of Billy - the Syracuse football games and tailgates, the Uncle's and Goodfella's golf leagues, the pool parties, the Halloween parties and of course the fun, laughter, and great drinks and food with our Dinner Group. We will even miss those rather loud political debates. So very sorry. Love and thoughts, Chipper and Marianne

Bill will be sorely missed by all. I will always have fond memories of hanging around with Bill and playing golf with him. One day we'll all be together having a Manhattan with him. So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I worked with Bill for many years in the education department at Midstate. He was a dedicated, reliable coworker always willing to lend a hand with problem solving and offer a smile and support to fellow workers in a challenging educational setting. He faithfully attended our PEF meetings. Enjoyed our times together with him and Marti at our PEF holiday parties. My condolences to Bill's family. So sorry for your loss.

So many great memories of Bill, from our trips to Cape Cod and Boston in the 70s, to the annual Big East Basketball Tournaments in New York. The countless golf outings and yearly Myrtle Beach trips will stay in my mind forever. I'll always remember the special attention he'd give to my mom whenever they were in each other's company (it may have had something to do with her love of manhattans). We'll really miss you, Bill. Rest in peace.

I want to express my sadness in the passing of my very good friend, and exemplary tenant for over 8 years...
Bill,to me.... showed the true heart of a gentleman. His character and demeanor was meant to treat everyone he met with respect and kindness. He never could turn down anyone in need.
Bill was my golf partner in the Goodfellows league and although he taught me me lessons on how to play better golf we definitely bumped heads on many occasions... Never to cause any animosity towards our friendship we resolved to the fact that we needed to ride in separate carts... lol..Then have a cocktail at the clubhouse.
Bill you are and were a great guy.. I'll miss you buddy... Cheers.. your friend and landlord

As kids we called him "Billy". My older sister, Anne became a close friend to Billy's gregarious sister, Patty since grammar school at St. Francis deSales. Her infectious laugh always added pizzaz to my family's gatherings that Patty attended during High School at Proctor. Patty and her wonderful Mom always warmly welcomed me and my two younger siblings to their home with Anne. Billy was a constant source of good deed doing and a superb athlete. My genuine sympathy and love to Patty, and Billy's family.
