Mary Alice Margaret (Fleming) Levine, 87, of New Hartford, passed away in the presence of her family after a long illness on May 7, 2014 at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Malta, NY. Mary Alice was born August 16, 1926, in Pottsville, PA, the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Buckley) Fleming. She left Pottsville and moved to Washington, D.C. in 1944 where she was employed by the OSS (forerunner of the CIA). Her job took her to Germany and while there, she married a U.S. Air Force serviceman, Alexander Levine. Mary Alice received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Business Administration from SUNY Albany. She was subsequently employed at Jefferson Community College from 1966 – 1969. She was a Professor at Mohawk Valley Community College from 1969 – 1993. Mary Alice volunteered regularly for the Utica Food Pantry, tutoring services, and the Utica Boiler Maker. She was also proud to participate in many area walks for charity. She is survived by four daughters, Patricia (Chris) Liuzzo of Sand Lake, NY, Kathleen (John) Slattery of Stillwater, NY, Maureen (Robert) Ruhm of New Hartford, NY and Stephanie Levine of Concho, Arizona; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her ten brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at 11:30 am and attend services at Noon on Monday, May 12 at the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Yorkville, NY. Mary Alice's daughters would like to thank the following people for taking care of her throughout her struggles with Alzheimer's: Caregivers, Hospice, Home Helpers, Home of the Good Shepherd and Saratoga Hospital. Arrangements are under the guidance of the Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica/New Hartford.


My sister Barbara Rivecca wanted ur family to know that she had her as a reacher at MVCC from1969-1971and that she was very nice and such a lady..may she rest in peace
