I have known Bernie since the ASCS/FSA days before she went to the credit side of FSA. I will always remember a training session where we had to introduce ourselves. Bernie, always the comedian stated her name and said she "was single and wanted to mingle". Much to everyones' smiles and laughter. To Ken, Joseph and Andrew she was truly a joy to behold. I will miss her smile and infectious laugh.

I will miss Bernie's laughter and infectious smile. Bernie and I worked together at Dreamstreet Holsteins before we worked together at ASCS/FSA. I loved having a beer with her after work and playing pool at the local watering hole. To Joesph and Andrew, you mom was such a special person who was loved by so many. Keep her memories alive as she still lives inside of both of you.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Green and Wieder families. Many of my best memories of childhood include Bernie ... riding our bikes to the soda shop in the Falls (Look, no hands!) ... exploring every square inch of the farm house and farm ... avoiding the billy goat in the barn ... terrorizing Pete, Therese and Mary Margaret ...high school graduation, the list is endless. I know that I will forever hold her memory in my heart as I knew her... laughing, happy and filled with love, and so will all of you when your hearts have begun to heal. Even though I only met Bernie at our annual policy meetings in 2007 and 2008, I felt that she loved and lived her life wholeheartedly. Bernie spoke adoringly about her family and I could tell that she enjoyed her FSA job and the people she worked with each day. I’m saddened by the news that Bernie has passed away but I know that Heaven has welcomed a very kind and beautiful soul. I will pray for her family and friends during this difficult time in their life. My sincere sympathies, Patty M. Burkum Farm Loan Program Technician Canton, NY Office
