Barbara M. Reynolds, 69, of Waterville (formerly of Utica), passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009, with her family by her side at the Albany Medical Center, after having lost her battle with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. She was born January 22, 1940, in Cortland, the only child of the late Kenneth and Olive Stabler Murphy. She was a graduate of Cortland High School and the Auburn Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She married George (Skip) Reynolds of Utica on May 18, 1963, at St. Mary''s Church in Cortland. For 20 years, Mrs. Reynolds was a Registered Nurse at St. Luke''s Memorial Hospital and later worked for over 20 years with Dr. Steven Z. Kussin at Digestive Disease Medicine of CNY in Utica, retiring in 2005. Mrs. Reynolds was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and formerly an active member of Sacred Heart Church. She was a former volunteer with the Stevens-Swan Humane Society, and a member and volunteer of the Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, UT. She was an avid gardener with a magic green thumb, loved the performing arts, and traveling. Barbara crocheted thousands of mittens for family, friends, and charity, and was the founder of the Boilermaker Bell Ringers on Champlain Avenue - an event she thoroughly enjoyed. She was also a terrific baker - infamous for her homemade chocolate chip cookies, consumed by many New York Mills High School students. Barbara was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She truly loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, George; three daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) and Jeffrey Burgess of Plattsburgh, Erin and Mark Andrews of Sherrills Ford, NC, and Jennifer and Michael Wratten of Waterville; seven grandchildren, Garrett and Stephanie Burgess, Nicholas and Anneliese Andrews, and Elizabeth, Alison, and Jack Wratten. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins all of whom she loved dearly. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 am at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, New Hartford. Calling hours are Tuesday evening from 4-7 at the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Rd., Utica/New Hartford. Interment will be in Cortland.
