Robert and Sandra Jastrab, of Whitesboro, NY, mourn the loss of their son, David of Silver Spring, MD, as the result of a train accident on July 30, 2009. David was born in Utica, NY on June 12, 1968. Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister Ann, her husband Todd Paonessa, and their son Luke, who reside in San Rafael, CA. David was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Bertha Kain of Melbourne, FL and his paternal grandparents, Casey and Betty Jastrab of Chicago, Ill. David graduated from Whitesboro High School, fifth in his class, in 1986. He earned his B.A. in psychology from the University of Maryland in December of 1989. In May of 1993, he received his Master's degree in social work from the University of Maryland. Although David worked at several jobs during his social work career, he spent the last twelve years working at Home Care Partner's, most recently as manager of Operations and Services. Home Health Care Partner's is a non-profit agency providing non-medical home care services to the elderly and individuals with disabilities. David made a lasting impression on all he met and was beloved by clients, staff and community partners. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., Utica, NY. David, may you rest in peace.

I was honored to have David as a loving friend of mine. He demonstrated a compassion and depth of caring that endeared him to me. My heart is full of love for the both of you and all of David's family. He spoke often and fondly of you. I know that he rests in the arms of gentle, loving angels, and I hope you find some comfort and solace knowing he left behind so many warm memories of a kind, gentle soul who graced our lives.
Dennis Dinkel

Mere words cannot express the sorrow I feel for you at this very sad time. May the happy memories of Davids' life warm you and help heal your hearts. May God be with you both. I'm so very sorry.
Penny Hotaling

Mr. and Mrs. Jastrab and the Paonessa family, I was so saddened today to hear about David. I met him through a mutual friend in Washington and though I knew David only a short time, I found him to be a very empathetic and compassionate soul. I admired the work he did. We had laughs volunteering together on the presidential campaign, and I was happy to have him as a guest in my home. Know that he was loved and appreciated by his friends and colleagues, and now he is at peace.

Dear Bob and Sandy, In this sorrowful period of your life together I would like to offer my sincere sympathy to you both. Life puts so many challenges before us but I know the two of you will continue to go on and let the memories that are in your heart put some life into your lives. As you go on together each day share those precious memories together and with your other loved ones. If ever I can do something for you both please just ask. One day David will have a lot to share with you. My deepest sympathy to you both.
Wendy Bowers

May you find comfort in the memories that are yours to cherish always, and strength in the companionship of those who share your loss.... I have learned never to underestimate the healing power we all have. It is always there to be used for the highest good. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. (Matthew 5:4) May it be a source of inner strength to know that there's a loving God watching over you, and that, throughout this time of need, He'll stay close by your side. I have fought the fine fight, I have run the course to the finish, I have observed the faith.-2Timothy 4:7. As for me, I will lie down that I may sleep; I shall certainly awake, for Jehovah himself keeps supporting me. -Psalms 3:5

I worked with David at Home Care Partners before I moved to New England. I know he was very sad after the passing of his grandfather and I have to believe that David is in Heaven with his grandfather now. David will be missed by so many that he touched during his life. I remember when his sister got married and how excited David was for her. I am sorry for your loss, but God called an angel home.

Mr. & Mrs. Jastrab, Ann, and Family. I was David's special friend when he attended Oswego State College, before going to Maryland. I was shocked and so sorry to hear of David's passing and even more sorry for your loss. I am heart broken. David meant allot, to allot of people not just me. I will always remember his bright smile that always lit up the room when ever he entered. He always had a way of making people laugh and feel better whenever they were down. If there is ever anything I can do, please feel free to contact me anytime. Again, I am so sorry for your loss and I will miss David, our phone calls, and all the laughs we had, and special times we spent with each other. May God bless you and keep you in his loving care, and may God take David into his arms and give him peace. William P. Lytle, LPN, C.Ht. Utica, NY
