Mrs. Margaret R. Alberding, 91, of Madison Street, Waterville, New York, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 9, 2009. She was born in Wisconsin on February 2, 1918, the daughter of Herman and Susie (Adams) Karlman. Margaret was a graduate of Madison Central School and Utica School of Commerce. She was married to Dr. Milton S. Alberding D.V.M. on October 18, 1941. They shared a blessed union of 64 years until his passing on October 23, 2005. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waterville. For over 60 years, Margaret assisted her husband in the operation of their veterinary practice in Waterville. She is survived by her three beloved sons and two daughters-in-law; Dr. Robert and Sharon Alberding of Waterville, David and Brenda Alberding of Waterville, and Douglas Alberding of Oriskany Falls; her four special grandchildren, Steven Alberding and his wife Amanda of Delaware, Patricia Alberding and her friend, Shawn Davis, Derek Alberding and Karen Alberding, all of Waterville; three cherished great grandsons, Andrew, Bryan, and Carson Alberding of Delaware; Margaret also leaves her sisters, for whom were special to her, Ann (Francis) Frietas of Utica, Isabelle Strain of Vernon, Sylvia (Phil) Person of Waterville, Shirley Eaton of Binghamton, and Sally (Walter) Fairbrother of Texas; a sister-in-law, Jean Dziekan and her husband Irving of Oriskany Falls; several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law; Irene and Elmer Barth, Ella and Arthur Winn, Noreen Karlman, Lucille and Robert Teesdale, Esther and Oney Ogden, Ray Strain, Maurice Eaton, and Leo Burback. Funeral services for Mrs. Alberding will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville with The Rev. Genett Timlin, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Memorial Park. A calling hour will begin at 9 a.m. prior to the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. In memory of Mrs. Alberding, please consider contributions to the Waterville Fire Department or the Waterville Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps.


Aunt Margaret was the sweetest lady who always sent special wishes to my family and me on our birthdays and every holiday. I will miss her dearly.
