Louise Calidonna Wood, 88, formerly of Conkling Avenue, Utica, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Sitrin Health Care Center. She was born August 12, 1925, in Utica, the daughter of the late Frank and Rose Taurisano Calidonna and was a graduate of Proctor High School. At one time, she was married to Richard P. Wood who passed away in 1998. For many years, Mrs. Wood was employed with Oneida County. First in the position of Senior Clerk at the Oneida County Clerks Office and later as Executive Secretary to former Public Works Commissioner Jack Plumley. She retired in 1988 as Executive Secretary to former Oneida County Health Commissioner Bill Campbell. She was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. She is survived by an aunt, Eileen Taurisano of Utica; many cousins, especially acknowledging, Lil and Pat Coppola of Utica, Frank Tomaino of Clinton, Marilyn and Joseph LaBarbera of Frankfort, Carol and Robert Bedell of Deerfield and Marie Vitagliano of Utica. She is also survived by several special friends. Louise was predeceased by her brother, Frank Calidonna. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 3 pm at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. A calling hour will be held Monday from 2-3 pm at the church, prior to the Mass. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the guidance of the Bentz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica/New Hartford. "Louise wishes to extend a special thank you to her family and friends for all their support during her illness". Also a special "thank you" is extended to Dr. Butala, Dr. Dang and Dr. Cooley.
