Leona A. ( Kassouf ) Sally, 85, of Rexford, New York and a longtime former resident of Waterville, New York, entered into eternal life unexpectedly at her home on Holy Thursday, March 28, 2013. She was born March 26, 1928 in Utica, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Kallasy Kassouf and was a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School. On October 15, 1949, Leona married William Sally, Sr. in St. Louis Gonzaga Church, Utica, a blessed union of 62 years until Bill's passing in 2011. Leona was employed as a payroll clerk at the former Oneida National Bank for over 20 years. In the early 1960's, Leona ran the Tot and Teen Dance Studio of Waterville along with Jinny Nicotera and helped coordinate many dance performances. She was a very devoted Catholic and fervently practiced her religion. She loved to dine out and especially enjoyed making and eating her ethnic Lebanese dishes. She was devoted to her family and was very fond of socializing with old and new friends, especially those she formerly worked with and her new friends at Coburg Village in Rexford. Leona is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William, Jr. and Sabine Sally of Clifton Park; her three daughters, Sandra and M. W. ( Skip ) Swiatek of Downingtown, PA, Deborah and Gary Schneider of Oneonta and Georgianne and Robert Martz of Clifton Park; her beloved grandchildren, Lisa, Amy, and Victoria Swiatek, Mark and Savannah Jackson, Allison Jackson and Tyler Sally; a great-grandchild, Abe; three sisters-in-law, Louise Sally of Cassville, Anne Sally of Waterville and Virginia Kassouf of Albany; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and Charles Kassouf; and a sister, Selma Kassouf. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:15 am from the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Road, Utica/New Hartford and 11 am from St. Louis Gonzaga Church, Utica, where a Mass will be celebrated by Chorbishop John D. Faris. Entombment will take place at Christ the King Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
