Mrs. Grace Mandich, 90, of Utica, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. Joseph Nursing Home. She was born October 2, 1922, in Italy, the daughter of the late Ernest and Maria Pelle Codispoti and received her education there. On June 6, 1947, in Italy, she married Frank J. Mandich. After their marriage, she and her husband came to the United States, settling in New York City. In 1974, they relocated to Utica. Mr. Mandich passed away June 13, 1975. A devout Catholic, Mrs. Mandich was a parishioner of Historic Old St. John's Church, belonged to the church Guild and was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and the Right to Life. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and John Callahan of North Utica; and a granddaughter and her husband, Marie and Fred Latus, III and their daughter, Noel Theresa Latus, of Marcy. She was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Verni, Ida Cecutta and Carmen Gambino; and three brothers, Georgio, Marashalio and Alfredo Codispoti. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am from Historic Old St. John's Church, Downtown Utica. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Per her wishes, there will be no public calling hours. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Carmelite Sister's and the entire 3rd floor staff of St. Joseph Nursing Home, as well as Dr. Richard Silver and his staff, for all their wonderful care and compassion. Arrangements are under the guidance of the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., Utica/New Hartford.
