Gordon H. (Gordie) Roberts, 88, of Waterville, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at The Pines at Utica. He was born January 29, 1923, in Paris Hill, the son of the late Lynn and Gladys Dausman Roberts. After the death of his mother, he was raised by his father and stepmother, Pearl Moyer Roberts and was educated at the Doolittle School in Paris Hill. In 1955, at Holy Trinity Church, Utica, he married Clara M. Dudec. She passed away in 1994. For many years, Mr. Roberts owned and operated a dairy farm in Madison. After his retirement, he worked as a groundskeeper at Stonebridge Golf Course until the age of 82. Gordie loved to hunt and fish. He is survived by a brother, Neal Roberts and his special friend, Helga Rush of Waterville; a sister and brother-in-law, Carole and Kent Cole of Waterville; and many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and his wife, Lynn and Colleen Huggins of Waterville. He was predeceased by his son, Eric (Ricky) Roberts in 1965; and two sisters, Merle Huggins and Marjorie Tuttle. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Friday at 11 am at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, with Pastor Genett Timlin officiating. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park. A calling hour will be held Friday from 10-11, prior to the service.
