leave a condolence read condolencesGeorge A. Nicholson, Jr., 71, of North Utica, formerly of New Hartford, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. He was born February 19, 1939, in Utica, the son of the late George, Sr. and Agnes Schultz Nicholson. He was educated in Utica and New Hartford schools and was a graduate of MVCC. For 37 years, George was a police officer with the City of Utica Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1999. He was a member and past president of both the Utica PBA and the New York State Police Conference and was a member of the North Eastern Police Conference and Valley View Golf Club. He is survived by five children; 13 grandchildren; and a sister. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., Utica/New Hartford.

I was so sorry to hear of his passing - I just returned from Florida and found out. I have fond memories of younger days. He was always a great guy and will be missed. I send condolences to all those who loved him.
