David L. (Dave) Coon, 68, of Oriskany Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday March 3, 2010, at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton. He was born January 25, 1942, in Rome, the son of the late Lewis B. and Vera Barnard Coon. He was educated in Rome Schools, graduated from Madison Central School and attended SUNY Morrisville. On June 6, 1964, in Morrisville, he married Darlene F. Bell. For 32 years, Dave was a machine operator with Revere Copper & Brass in Rome, retiring in 2002. Dave was an avid hunter and was a member and past president of the Cassety Hollow Rod & Gun Club, was a member of the round table club at Tallman''''s Diner and was a past member of the Oriskany Falls Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Darlene; two sons and daughters-in-law, David Michael and Wendy Coon and Dale Lewis and Tricia Coon, all of Vernon Center; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Laraine and Bruce Carroll of Maryland, NY and Gloria and Erwin (Kit) Hall of Oriskany Falls; one brother and sister-in-law, Thom and Kathy Coon of Oriskany Falls; five grandchildren, Casey, Sydney, Shelby, Dalton and Kirsten; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dave was predeceased by one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Erwin Engle. Services will be held Sunday at 5 pm at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, with Pastor Ed Townsend officiating. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland. Calling hours are Sunday afternoon from 2-5, prior to the service.
