Lola J. Longo, 59, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 1, 2010 at her home. She was born July 9, 1950, in Utica, the daughter of the late Mariano J. (Moe) and Mary F. Parisi Longo and was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. For many years, Lola was employed with Oneida County Family Court and was currently employed with New York State Family Court. Lola had a deep love for animals and a strong passion to help stray cats. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to any family member or friend who needed her and was the "best mother in the world" to her daughter, Kim. Lola loved her family, and deeply missed her father, Moe, and is now reunited with him. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Kim Intino of Montgomery Village, MD, and her boyfriend, Frank Nibley; her step mother, Angela Pedone Longo of Utica; her aunts, Joann Longo of Utica and Mary Parisi of VT, formerly of Utica; two special cousins, Carolyn McAleese of Utica and Robin McAleese of Oswego, and her two daughters, Hana and Kaya; her former son-in-law, Al Zito of Utica; her former husband, Mark Intino of Las Vegas, NV, and his family; and her best friend, Becky LoPiccolo. Lola also cherished her many friends from St. Anthony Street and her co-workers at Family Court. Lola was predeceased by her beloved grandmother, Mary Longo; and her aunts and uncles, Marie Cochrane, Frances and Robert McAleese and Joseph Parisi. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 9:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, Utica. There are no calling hours, however the family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass in the church vestibule. Arrangements are with the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., Utica/New Hartford.
I just read about your Mom today. She had been in my thoughts. We worked together at Hamilton Digital. She was a wonderful lady. So sorry for your loss, honey.
I have a warm memory of a beautiful 6th grade girl that I would run out to greet as she walked by my house on her way home every day after school. Being typical schoolkids, neither of us would admit we had crushes on each other, and, like with most of these "never-to-be" fleeting childhood romances, we moved on and the years went by. For some unclear reason, I was thinking of her today but sadly discovered that she was gone. Perhaps Lola was letting me know that she was taking one last walk by my house to see if I still remembered her. Yes,Lola, I do.

We are so sad to hear of the news of Lola's death. What a beautiful and engaging person she was. She truly will be missed more than words can say down in Family Court. She made it a joy to go down there and was always ready to help. God be with her always.
