Frank A. Calidonna, Jr., 76, of West Hollywood, CA, formerly of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 6, 2009. He was born October 24, 1933, in Utica, the son of the late Frank and Rose Taurisano Calidonna. He was a graduate of Proctor High School, class of 1952 and MVTI. Frank was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. For over 50 years, Mr. Calidonna resided in California. He owned and operated The Flower Shop of Los Angeles and later owned and operated The Shop of Los Angeles, a retro furniture store, retiring in 2007. Frank, a kind and gentle person, loved animals and flowers, and was very devoted to his sister Louise. He is survived by his beloved sister, Louise Calidonna Wood of Utica; an aunt and uncle, Eileen Taurisano and Michael Taurisano, both of Utica; a special friend, Vincente Puga of West Hollywood, CA; and many cousins. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 12 noon at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, Utica. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours, however the family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Arrangements are with the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., Utica/New Hartford.
