Charles H. (Chuck) Tanner, 80, of Waterville, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the Harding Nursing Home. Chuck was born December 5, 1928, in the Town of Frankfort, the son of the late William and Dorothy Lipp Tanner and was a graduate of Madison High School Class of 1946. On December 31, 1947, in Madison, he married Betty Davis, a union that lasted almost 62 years. Chuck worked for G L F Feeds, Sears & Roebuck Co., operated the Western Auto in Waterville, worked at the Lincoln Davies Co., served as Codes Enforcement Officer for several municipalities and did plumbing and repair work. He was an honorary member of the Waterville Fire Department and had served as a Village of Waterville trustee. He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Betty; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Esther Tanner of Madison and Roger and Terry Tanner of Waterville; his four grandchildren, Diane and her husband Keith Peavey and David and his wife Stephanie Tanner, all of Madison, Tracy Tanner of Boston, MA and Matthew Tanner of Waterville; his four great grandchildren, Joshua and Alexis Peavey and Steven and Bobby Tanner; his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lavina and Fred Reilly of Oriskany Falls and Gertrude and James Kelley of Madison; his two brothers, William Tanner of Hudson and Robert Tanner of TX; his sisters-in-law, Ruth Tanner of CA and Ann Guimar of MA; and several special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Frank, Almon and Eddie; and three sisters, Mildred, Dorothy and Edna. The funeral will be Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, with Pastor Raymond Lighthall officiating. Interment will be in Waterville Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 12 - 3, prior to the service.
Betty, I'm so sorry to hear about Chuck. I'll carry some very special memories of him. You and your family are in my prayers.
